Amber will be placing some historical pictures here on their blog that help to depict the progression of the organization through the past 60 years. 

Back in the early days Amber Ambulance would be responsible for a considerable amount of territory that might be hard to imagine in today's rapid EMS response world and smaller service areas.  

Back in the 40's, Ambulances were considered an arm of Civil Defense.  Many, if not all ambulances of the era were converted funeral hearses....

For those of you who can recall, ambulances evolved from early trucks, station wagons, hearses, vans and into the various modular units we see today.  A few of us might even remember taking part in early civil defense mock disaster drills and played roles as injured persons receiving rides in these cramped and seemingly unfriendly conveyences.
